Celebrating Tibet @ UUCA Human Rights Weekend!

Thank you to all the CATA members who helped make this inaugural event a great success!

Activities included:

- an engaging refugee panel talk with our very own Tenzing Barshee la alongside inspiring Syrian and Guatemalan activists;

- a global interfaith service including musical performance by the talented Karma Gyaltsen la;

- a screening of "Kundun" followed by an in-depth Q/A with the film actors and crew; and

- a children's workshop led by Tibetan youth who helped the participants write letters of support to Tibetan political prisoners.

We are grateful to all the CATA participants and to the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) for sharing Tibet with our local community.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who brought Tibetan food for the international potluck.

Tibetan khabsey was included in the 'Breaking Bread' interfaith ceremony alongside auspicious blue corn Hopi Piki bread and traditional forms of bread made by the UUCA congregation. UUCA's Rev. Aaron led the gathering in a recitation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's long life prayer (Gangri Rawai) and cited inspirational passages from Shantideva's Guide to the Boddhisattva's Way of Life. All those gathered left feeling inspired and united.

Lastly, our immense gratitude to Rev. Aaron and his amazing UUCA team for their energy, leadership, and vision in organizing this event. CATA looks forward to partnering again with our friends at UUCA and ICT on future events.
