CATA Celebrates Democracy Day

The local DC Tibetan community gathered for a celebratory picnic on Saturday, September 2nd to commemorate the 56th anniversary of Mangtso Duechen (Democracy Day). The event commenced with opening remarks by CATA President, Namkha Tenzin la, and a reading of the Kashag's official Democracy Day Statement by CATA Vice-President, Kunsang Dolma la. The reading was followed by a speech from the guest of honor at the event, the new Office of Tibet Representative, Penpa Tsering la. Picnic festivities including Tibetan song, dance, food, and games and were then enjoyed by all.

CATA extends its heartfelt thanks to all the attendees for their delicious potluck dishes. They also wish to thank the volunteers who assisted during the event to make it a success.

Lastly, CATA extends a special thank you to the guest of honor, Representative Penpa Tsering la, for gracing this auspicious occasion.
